31 Aug Community United to tackle in Ndungameni
The Eastern Cape Department of Community Safety, through its Amathole District Office , on the 28 August 2026, hosted a Social Crime Prevention Awareness programme at Ndungameni Community Hall in the Toise Administrative Area.
Held under the theme “Musa ukuthula Kusonakala” the engagement brought together the Department of ,SAPS, CPF, and community structures , the inkanyezi Matshamba Foundation and residents to address crime and strengthen Community Participation.
Alcohol and substance abuse were highlighted as major contributors to assault, GBV, Housebreaking roberries.Residents were urged not to buy stolen goods , while livestock owners were encouraged to properly mark and protect their stock.
The Community raised concerns about villages without CPFs , Street Committee that have not been formally recognised , persistent housebreaking and the need for increased police visibility at high schools to prevent faction fights.
Community Safety is everybod’s responsibility. Together , we can build safer and more resilient communities.
